High
School Relationships: Why Are They So Damn Hard?
At the horizon of our
transformation into adulthood, there are some who are far ahead of
the pack. I must confess I have been an adult since I was a little
boy, due to a tragic event within my family. So for the majority of
my life I have sought out a true companion, not just a Saturday
night fling. In a time where our hormones are going crazy, and our
minds are being flustered with depictions of sexual situations in
movies, commercials, etc., it isn’t a surprise that when it comes
to a relationship sex is a major factor. There are a select few,
however, those same few that happen to already be adults, mentally,
that don’t take sex as a necessity. For them, if it happens, it
happens, but it is definitely not a priority. I would like to
consider myself a member of this group of our peers. For us, finding
a true relationship is an everlasting struggle, and will be a
struggle until all of the people we know and see everyday mature to
this level. It might sound weird, but I must be frank that I have
already had thoughts of having a wife and children. This is evident
to me whenever I see children playing in the park, or anywhere,
because a smile takes over my face. If the situation permitted, I already might
have been a husband with a job. So finding a girl who can
understand these feelings is a very hard task. Even the typical high
school relationship is a struggle, because people just don’t want
to spend their lives with a select few. High school, for most
people, is a time of exploration and discovery, which is perfectly
fine and normal. So relationships are usually nothing more than
lustful attractions that usually don’t last very long. When you
are in your 30’s, see how many high school couples you know.
Believe me when I say the list won’t be very long. So for the time
being, my fellow peers and myself, who are already beyond this level
of society - just wait a little longer, because in time everything
will be fine.

The
Future of Music
There is a storm on the horizon. A
storm that will drastically change life for all of us that like to
think of ourselves as music enthusiasts. Whether you like rap, rock,
pop, techno, punk, funk, R&B, etc., you must appreciate good
music. Lately there has been resurgence of rock, but not like what
is coming. Bands like Blink 182, Good Charlotte, and more, are just
softening the public for what is really coming: The next coming of
Classical Rock. This was made evident by some of the bands at
Beverly’s Battle of the Bands. Whether it's the Roscoe’s cover
of "My Generation", AKA’s "Born to be Wild",
the Haze’s "Paranoid", etc., it is clear Classical Rock
is emerging from its grave. With the rise of Punk, Disco, and Glam
Rock, Classical Rock was pushed to the side. Out of the serious
Musical Chaos of the 80’s, except for bands like ACDC, Bruce
Springsteen and the E Street Band, Aerosmith, etc., came what is the
dominant musical force today: rap. Coming from the ashes of Funk,
old R&B, and Reggae, from artists like James Brown, Sly and the
Family Stone, George Clinton, Bob Marley, etc., Rap arose to capture
America like only one other musical movement: The Original Rock and
Roll of Elvis and Little Richard. All of that has led to this
moment, when all of the music we have come to love and cherish is
starting to overlap. With groups like Outkast, the Roots, Black Eyed
Peas, and more, Rock and Rap are beginning to produce an amazing
combination. Bands like The White Stripes, The Hives, The Strokes,
and more, are beginning the comeback of Classical Rock, with an
infusion of Punk. It is not a mystery why everyone is going retro.
Whether you look at Santana sweeping the Grammy’s a few years ago,
or the release of things like Led Zeppelin – How the West was Won,
or the Beatles Anthology, music video’s like Outkast’s Hey Ya,
people are beginning to realize what music is good, and has always
been good. So just sit back and watch the tidal wave hit, because
believe me it will.
