Introduction

You are about to read philosophy. My philosophy. Now this will not be a conventional philosophy reading. In fact, quite the contrary. This is simply an introduction to the daily thoughts of Orange Mist, me. I don’t hold these thoughts to be all inclusive nor do I think they are necessarily right. These are my thoughts on life, society, and the way we think. Often I will see something, or something will happen to me, or I will think of something, or I will meet someone who inspires these thoughts. What you are about to read is meant to provoke thoughts. It is up to you to build upon them. Perhaps they have some truth, perhaps they are simply the ramblings of someone who just wants to write what he thinks. I think it should be obvious to  the reader so far that I do not hold myself to be right. I understand I am ignorant in many matters. Perhaps, in reality there are no all-inclusive philosophies. Perhaps there is no such thing as universal laws. Maybe life is just mystical and completely random. Nevertheless, it is obvious that patterns do appear to exist in this universe. Therefore, I will try to explore such patterns as based on today’s society because everything I think and feel is based, in one way or another on what society has showed me. I will attempt to rise above society, to philosophize without any prohibitions.

Beliefs

I am a man of no true beliefs. I believe only what is convenient for me to believe. How can I truly believe anything if there is evidence that suggests against it - or if there is no evidence to prove it? Nothing in nature can be proven for certain. There is always ambiguity. Everything is changing and nothing, ever, remains constant. I don't believe in faith because faith is absurdity. Hope I can accept, because it is a desire, not a belief. Faith on the other hand, is ignorance. But then again, let me step back and analyze what I write here. Is this ignorant? I believe not... but do not... and cannot know for certain.

Returning to my original point: I believe what I want to, when I want to. Since any given belief may (and probably is) false, I might as well choose my beliefs to suit my short and long-term goals. It is the only way to live. Take the world around you and create a belief system that will suit your environment. Delude yourself, for example, with thoughts about how important school is and how much it helps you in the long-run, but also in the immediate future. If that statement is true or not doesn't really matter. What matters is that you believe it if it makes you happy. Who is to judge one belief system over another? Nobody has that right because their belief system is just as wrong as yours. One has to learn to accept the stupidity of beliefs before he/she can mold thoughts to suit his/her own life. Until the fact that morals are nothing more than human inventions, one cannot say morals are good. Morals are good in their uses. Morals are good to justify your actions and make you feel that you are doing the right thing... that you are a good person. A person whose desires don't coincide with their morals is a confused person. The sad thing is that many people are confused. The only thing worse than confused is suppressed. Too many people feel that these man-made morals are universal - that they must be abided by even if they contradict the person's own desires. It is these people that ignorantly believe their set of ideals is the right one and all others are false. It is people that stand by their moral system and their cultural values and won't accept the values of others that led to horrific mass murders of people during events such as the Crusades and the Holocaust. Please excuse my drastic analogy, but it is very applicable. This should shock suppressed people because they think to kill is to do wrong. They probably can't accept the fact that their "I am right, you aren't" belief system causes the very things it speaks out against.
