Search For The Norman Nation
Profile
for: Dan Stepenowski
(of
course we wouldn't be referring to Dr. Stepenosky!)
"Good morning Norman Nation."
Many Beverly students hear this phrase early in the morning and think nothing of it, but only the few wise know its true meaning. Many students, and even a few teachers, do not know the past of
our beloved Principal Dan Stepenowski. Born at the height of the Cold War, Step, as
Stepenowski prefers to be called, endured a harsh childhood, as he was constantly taught in school to fear a Soviet attack. Step learned these lessons well, as he joined the United States Navy, serving on a nuclear submarine as a nuclear waste technician. Many know this part of Step's history, but a darker and more tragic side lies beneath Step's cheerful exterior. While serving on the USS Viper, Step was faced with the chance to eliminate his childhood enemy, the United Soviet Socialist Republic, when the USS Viper sailed within firing range of Moscow. Step attempted to hijack the submarine to release a hail of fury, but failed when his lack of physics knowledge forced the rockets to explode in midair. To prevent a diplomatic breakdown, Step was honorably discharged with no record of his mad attempt to achieve his ambitions. Left without a job, Step went into education,
working ironically, as a physics and astronomy teacher.
Stepenowski found his solace in Beverly. Why Beverly? With his blonde hair and blue eyes, Step, who is of Norman descent, felt comfortable with the familiar mascot and although he had no experience with physics, Step proved to be a fantastic teacher. He quickly used his charm to gain the position of vice-principal and when former
principal Ben Bushman retired, Step quickly took the executive position. But the school's decision to place Step has been a dire mistake. Many do not realize that Step is turning Beverly Hills High School into his own republic in hopes of destroying the Soviet Union, despite its collapse over a decade ago.
"Norman Nation" is Step's dream of a perfect school environment
bent on creating nuclear weapons. This idea is proved by his fervent effort to create the new science center. There are also many other indicators of Step's scheme. One student was brave enough to recount the horrors of a tardy sweep. He, wishing to remain anonymous, said, "The punishment horribly brainwashed
me - kill Communists." Also Step's AIM screen-name, which he says is a way for students to communicate with him, is in fact, an anti-communist bot informing students of
the importance of attendance and "Norman Pride, NP".
"Student of the month" is a much-hated Beverly program that Step has initiated. One might suspect that the program is to celebrate intellectualism,
but in fact it celebrates loyalty: loyalty to Step's programs, and loyalty to Step. Michael Ma, a student-of-the-month winner, said, "I was given a plaque commending my opposition to the Soviet Union, but I'm a
Chinese communist!" Many do not know the horrors that
Stepenowski may release upon this world, but if swift action is taken, the desecration of numerous countries can be prevented.
